Iptor IP1 Out of Print module is used to record Out of Print titles, update relevant title status, cancel backorders (with advices), cancel purchase orders (with advices) and write off any remaining stock based on business rules. Stockable digital items is also catered for by the Out of Print module.
The Out of Print process works by cycles where you add titles to and delete titles from the Out of Print file. The Out of Print file contains those titles that are out of print. When a title is added to the Out of Print file it becomes part of an Out of Print cycle. The cycle can hold multiple titles and is only cleared once the Out of Print cycle completion is generated. Title substitutions may take place immediately or when the stock is no longer available. A control report is then produced which shows product information before and after Out of Print maintenance. A list of all Out of Print file entries that are currently in the system can be produced.
As the Out of Print module is linked to the Title masterfile, some fields on this masterfile and relevant inquiries are updated by the Out of Print release/update routine. Depending on the instructions on the Out of Print file, outstanding customer and/or purchase orders may be cancelled and the remaining stock may be written off.
The cost update program will read completed Out of Print adjustment transactions and update the Out of Print file, which links the credit claim reference with the process number in the distribution transaction file. It reads transactions including Out of Print adjustment transactions and updates the totals to the Out of Print file for reporting purposes and to the Out of Print location file which is updated from the transaction picking file records for the transactions.
The Outstanding Orders Cancellation Advice prints a list per customer of all backorders that are to be cancelled. You are able to check the accuracy of the input data and review information before cancellation takes place by running this report. All outstanding purchase orders whose cancellation flags have been set to yes on the out of print file will be cancelled once this program is run. A purchase order cancellation advice will then be printed.
The quantity taken up by the customer orders that are still waiting dispatch is also shown. The stock adjustment report lists all titles flagged as out of print within the Out of Print cycle.
