Work with opportunity

Work with Opportunity allows you to filter down and access an opportunity to work with in the CRM system. Opportunities can be directly entered into the system through CRM incidents or it can alternatively be uploaded using a pre-formatted adoption template that can be populated off-line. Once an opportunity is created, follow up details, samples, adoption numbers and competitor information can be maintained via Work with Opportunity.

The Academic Adoptions has the ability to generate sales and marketing opportunities within CRM. These opportunities can be created in a number of ways:

  • When creating a call run by combining titles for promotion, title subject and contacts linked to the subject.
  • When employing a targeted marketing campaign to individual contacts.
  • When evaluation samples are sent to contacts

These opportunities can be identified and converted to time based follow-up activities where they can be managed from within CRM. The Sales Representative can manage the opportunity through to order processing through a unique opportunity identification number.

An adoption status defines the stage of an adoption opportunity within the cycle. The status of the adoption is significant for sales rep reports and marketing campaigns. A probability rating can be assigned to an adoption as a tool for sales and marketing to assess the opportunity for marketing, sales and sampling efforts.

View/Maintain CRM opportunities

  1. In the menu, expand Publishing Modules > Customer Relationship Management > Activity Management and double-click Work with CRM Opportunity. CRW150 Work with Opportunity selection panel appears. 
  2. Enter any of the filter fields and click OK to filter down to the select list.
  3. Select the customer and click on option Opportunity. The selected opportunity is displayed.
Function Description
Enrol Enrol function finds the curriculum details for the relevant customer/contact so you can enter the enrolment estimates and the actuals.
Format Use this function to display the rest of the columns.
Option Description
Text Used for entry of any additional text for the opportunity
Stock Access Item stock inquiry for the item (DSI020).
P&A Access Price & availability inquiry for the item (DSI030).
Item task Item Task allows you to view the tasks per item for the selected sales opportunity/incident.
View relevant fields
Field Description
Period Semester period, this is optional.
Start/End Start and end date for the opportunity. After the end date the opportunity is lost. The opportunity status should then be updated to reflect loss.
Probability Probability score can be assigned to each opportunity as a tool to be used for targeting and analysis using selected criteria from within CRM
Status An adoption status is assigned to each adoption to indicate the process stage. The status of the adoption is significant for sales rep reports and marketing campaigns.
Source Source of the Opportunity whether it’s a through telemarketing, customer service etc. This is defined in control file TMDSCRM/ISS-SRDO.
Item  ISBN for the opportunity item.
St Opportunity item status as specified in control file TMSCRM/ISS-STSI.
Qty This is the opportunity quantity for the corresponding ISBN.
Forecast Opportunity quantity  x Price will give the Forecast value.
Actual This is the actual sales value after the opportunity is realised into a sale.
Interest Interest code that links the title and the lecturers.
D This is the delivered quantity for the sample.
Req This is the required quantity of sample.
Competition ISBN for the competition item, if any.
