About 3rd Party Logistics

Charges can be calculated as a percentage of each service and/or as a fixed value for a particular activity. For example, we may need to charge differently for small single orders. Also returns and credits will require different methods of charging.

Different charge/cost rates can be applied against returns that fall into each of these groups:

  • Returns put back into stock for resale
  • Returns put into remainder stock
  • Damaged returns (not put back into stock)

Carrier Freight costs on transactions can be charged using a transaction based Charge Basis. These costs are apportioned across clients according to the client’s weight proportion of the total order weight. The Gross Weight on the Title Masterfile is used to calculate weight. A percentage of the total weight is determined for each transaction line. This percentage will then be applied against the total Carrier cost for the transaction to determine portioned freight cost applicable to this transaction line. The final apportioned cost is recorded as the Count Value. The Carrier Cost Zone Definition determines the freight costs. Calculated freight costs by order are stored at the time of dispatch. There can be different rates across partial periods and orders can be checked against carrier bills.

The freight costs are stored by order at time of dispatch confirmation. This allows for different rates across partial periods and ability to check orders against carrier bills. This utilises the Carrier Cost Zone Definition files to determine freight cost for the transaction. An inquiry screen is available to view freight costs from order inquiries.

A database is established to identify which products belong to a specific client.
