Introduction

A major modification to the existing Royalties system is to include the functionalities of Rightsmaster. Instead of having an external .NET application to process contracts, royalties, rights and permissions, these functionalities are now included in IP1 system. IP1 Royalties system has been re-structured to link works to Royalty contracts instead of a single ISBN/item, where any of the works can be assigned to one or more items.

Summary of changes

Works management

• Works database has been extended to support full works management
• Automatic generation of Works ID using number file DS-ISTC
• Holds physical/digital location of the Works
• Works are now linked to items
• 3rd party items can be registered against works, without the need to create them as real items. 

Royalty payment contracts

• Royalty contract has been restructured to link to multiple works instead of a sole item
• Allows contract search by items or works
• Multiple returns provision rules by items or packaging types
• Movement type codes has been extended to 6 characters.
• Allows account set allocation based on rules

Milestone management

• Royalty contract supports advance milestone payment types  
• New management screen to control milestone process to approve or reject milestone payments
• AP invoice generated upon milestone release

CAL processing

• CAL account set replaces CAL division
• New sales movement type to support GDM & CAL payments
• Pay through percentages on CAL movement definition determines percentage of incoming CAL to the paid out
• CAL upload via excel files

• Royalty interface to AP can be suppressed by royalty group based on TMSRY/RY-RGRP setup.

Other notes

On implementation Royalty accruals tax balance file (RYACT00P) must be loaded based on APTBA00P for the coming year.

1. YTXB (year taxable) to be -YTXB in APTBA (-ve means earning)
2. YTX (year tax amount) to be YTX in APTBA (-ve means withholding tax paid)

This file will transfer withholding tax information from AP back to Royalties Rights & Permissions. Therefore the responsibility of tracking withholding tax will remain in Royalties Rights & Permissions.
