With this functionality, dispatch is split into two steps – packing to a Dispatch Unit Load (DUL) and then dispatch of that DUL.
The order and container statuses will reflect ‘Waiting for pack to DUL’ and ‘Packed to DUL’. Time stamps will reflect this to allow KPI reporting.
Dispatch Units are defined by the destination country of the order, the forwarding agent and the carrier code. Multiple carrier codes will be needed to reflect multiple shipment methods for the same carrier. Multiple DUL’s can be defined per destination/carrier combination and can be reused. Dispatch Unit Detail file will record opening/closing/dispatching and a generated sequence number will identify re-use of the same DUL number after it was originally dispatched.
After pick confirmations are completed, a dispatcher will scan the pick slip barcode and confirm the packing of that order to a DUL. This function will confirm that the pick slip matches the DUL for destination/agent/carrier and the order is at the correct status to be packed to DUL. The pallet number will also be confirmed at this stage.
Dispatch DUL stage has two steps. Firstly the DUL is closed so no further orders can be allocated to that DUL and the details are printed, and signed off by the forwarder. Secondly the dispatch is confirmed. On dispatch confirmation the status of the order and each carton assigned to the DUL is updated.
