The Model Masterfile stores product information necessary for the identification and classification of models. The model number for both the external and External jobs must exist in this file. Each model is identified by a user defined model number. Model numbers are used to distinguish models that are covered under service contracts or are allowed to be repaired as charged jobs.
Models can be classified into different levels to summarise product details for analysis purposes. Model levels are in a hierarchy format, with the broadest level being level 1 channelling down to level 6 which is the actual item. The hierarchy should match the Finished Goods Hierarchy if the Sales analysis reports are to be used. An example of a Model Hierarchy is given below. This might be the item hierarchy for a particular television.
