The Cost of Sales Report is used to report on the Cost of Sales by Expenditure type.
When reporting, if the period is left blank, it uses the last month in the financial period and works backwards. It compares expenses with the profit and shows 11 months. This report summarises the WIP type expenses by month. Any other months prior to months shown are grouped in the ‘Others’ column.
When reporting on Transfer to Cost of Sales, expenses are already actually posted to the Cost of Sales account by period.
The report displays by month what has actually been transferred to the Cost of Sales. The last column is the actual balance.
The following report types may be used.
1 = Actuals – Displays the AP invoices actuals. Actuals show actual invoices raised in Book Production.
2 = Accrual – Displays automatically calculated accruals. These are Commitments – Actuals.
3 = Actuals + Accruals. Displays a consolidated value of both. The Actual balance shows the difference between what has actually been posted to the General Ledger Cost of Sales and what is still left to be posted from the expense accounts to Cost of Sales.
4 = Transferred – Displays only those actuals transferred. This looks at the transfer types selected in the selection criteria.
For example if transfer type 1 has a transfer value of $400, transfer type 2 has a transfer type value of $200 and transfer type 3 has a value of $150, and only transfer type 2 is selected then the report only displays $200. Where as if transfer types 2 and 3 are selected the transfer value displayed is $350.
5 = Balances – Displays values still due to be posted to Cost of Sales
For example if there is an actual for $400 then the balance is $400. Once Opt 42; Post WIP transactions to G/L is run the balance is zero. If an actual for $150 is received afterwards the balance displayed on the report is $150.
- In the menu, expand Publishing Modules > Book Publishing > Project Report > EOM Analysis Reports and double-click BP Cost of Sales Report. BPR650 Project Costs Report panel appears.
- Enter the selection fields as required.
- Click OK to produce the report.
The report lists the following information.
- Actual balance
- AP invoices actuals
- Calculated accruals (Commitments Actuals.)
- Consolidated value of actuals and accruals
- Actuals transferred
- Values still due to be posted to Cost of Sales
