Device master maintenance

The Device Master Maintenance program is used to register Devices for a specific Device Type. A Device Type is created in Device Types Maintenance for a specific warehouse and Master Maintenance allows for the addition of this device to other warehouses that may use it. If a warehouse is not Radio Frequency Controlled, a paper device must be registered.

  1. In the menu, expand Base Modules > Distribution > Masterfiles > Database Management > Database Management > Warehouses > Devices and double-click Device Master Maintenance. WHM120 Device Masterfile Maintenance panel appears, listing devices by Device types, Device user and Warehouse. Devices that are in use and devices with work allocated are flagged. 
  2. Enter a value for any of the following selection fields to display specific device/s:
    • Device
    • Device type
    • Device user
    • Warehouse
    • Current location
Option Description
Rule Accesses WHM140 Device Rules Masterfile Maintenance to add a device rule.
Perm container Accesses WHM130 Device Details Maintenance to add a permanent container for a device.
Device type Displays the device type details for the device.
  1. Click Add to add a new device. WHM120 Device Masterfile Maintenance appears in add mode.
Field Description
Device This code is used to define each Device in use in a warehouse.
Warehouse The warehouse in which this device is to be used.
Device type A valid device type for the device you are adding.
Current location Indicate the current location in which this device can be found.
Current user The current or last user of the Device if not using RF. This information can be used to track the device in the warehouse in the case where the device has not been logged off correctly either due to user error or a power failure.
  1. Enter the valid information for the above fields and click OK. The new device gets added.
Note A device may need to be reset if it has not been signed off the system properly, or an error has prevented it from being signed off. Reset date function resets the date of the device freeing it for use.
