Assortments
Components of the assortment are kept as individual Items and not kept as a made-up unit. During order entry assortment item is entered which then explodes to show the quantity and items of all components after order entry. On the invoice, components are shown individually but not the parent item. Components of the assortment can be individual item, packs or systems.
Pack system ID must be A for Assortments when adding an assortment in Title masterfile.
Bins
This category is used for an empty made-up Bin, as well as a full made-up Bin. The Title should be set to point to a Substitute Title after Release. A Bin operates in a similar way to a Pack. The difference is the Price % is not required for a Bin.
A customer orders the bin Title which is kept as a made-up unit and does not explode during order entry. The invoice will show the Bin Title and what it is made up of.
The price of a bin is composed of the sum total of the individual prices of its components. This saves additional price maintenance at parent level; if for example, the individual component prices change.
To update the Bin price Bin/Pack/System Component Price Update program is called and the price is updated based on the following conditions:
- If the record is not found or expired date is less than today’s date then create a new record.
- If the expired date is equal to today’s date and the price is different then update the price.
- If the expired date is greater than today’s date and the price is different:
- Effective dates less than today’s date then change the expired date to today’s date – 1 day and create a new record.
- Effective date equal to today’s date then change the price.
Control files TMSDS/PACK-ICT and TMSDS/PACK-ICC can be setup to allow automatic make-up of Packs, Systems and/or Bins based on order entry requirements as well as the backorder requirements.
On the Warehouse Management Stock Adjustment menu, program DSE170 Pack/System Make Up can be run to automatically makes-up stocks of Pack/System/Bin depending on the setup in TMSDS/PACK-ICC. Stock must be available in the default location (setup in TMSDS/WH-PACKL) in each warehouse. When the user enters the Pack/Bin or System number and quantity, the system will makeup stock of that Pack/Bin or System by reducing the applicable stock of the components and increasing stock of the Pack/Bin or System. An adjustment transaction will be created and stock will be appropriately reserved. A Pack or Bin can also be made via a work order if flagged accordingly in TMSDS/PACK-ICC. In this case the Pack/Bin stock will only be increased after all the components are picked and confirmed for the work order.
Stockable Bins can have non-stocked components. On assembly these non-stocked components are not checked for availability and does not generate a write-down transaction and on disassembly it will be automatically lost and will not generate a write-up transaction.
Bin stock can be disassembled into components if the selected transfer-in warehouse has been set up in TMSDS/BIN-EXPL.
Pack system ID must be B for Bins when adding a Bin in Title masterfile.
Mixtures
A Mixture or Mix is similar to an Assortment with the following differences:
- When entered in the order entry system, the Mix Title explodes the order for all specified components. These components are delivered if stock is available otherwise they go on backorder.
- A Mix allows you to apportion price by percentage, that is, you can allocate a percentage of the Mix to each Title. (The price is as per percentage of the Mix Title price and the discount is the same as the Mix line.)
To setup a Mix you create a dummy Mix Item on the Title Masterfile, which represents a selection of Titles. This dummy Item must have the following features:
- it must be setup as a non-stock item
- it must have a Status of Active
- it must have a Pack/System ID of M for Mix
- once the Item has been identified as a Mix Title type, an additional screen displays for the entry of:
- the components of the Mix Item
- the quantity of each component incorporated in the Mix Item
- The percentage of the total Mix price that this component constitutes.
TMSDS/IM-PACK – This is system defined and does not require any setup by the user
TMSDS/IM-ASSI – This is system defined and does not require any setup by the user.
Pack system ID must be M for Mixture when adding a mixture in Title masterfile.
Packs
During Order Entry and when the Outstanding Order Release program is run, the system can automatically make-up packs as required, provided there is stock available of each of the components.
Stock is kept as a made up unit. When a customer orders the pack, order entry only shows the pack Title but the invoice shows the pack Title and the Titles or components that make up the pack.
Stockable Packs can have non-stocked components. On assembly these non-stocked components are not checked for availability and does not generate a write-down transaction and on disassembly it will be automatically lost and will not generate a write-up transaction.
Pack system ID must be P for Pack when entering a pack in Title masterfile.
Systems
During Order Entry and when the Outstanding Order Release program is run, the system can automatically make-up systems as required, provided there is stock available of each of the components.
Non-stocked items costs can now be included in a sales order where the cost is reflected in the sales profitability but does not affect the inventory cost. To do this the non-stocked item must be set up as a component belonging to a system. Since there is no associated cost of the non-stock item in the file, the inventory cost will not be affected. The cost is derived from the buying price field of the non-stock item in the title Masterfile.
Stockable Systems can have non-stocked components. On assembly these non-stocked components are not checked for availability and does not generate a write-down transaction and on disassembly it will be automatically lost and will not generate a write-up transaction.
Pack system ID must be S for System when entering a system in Title masterfile.
Variety
During Sales Order Entry and when the Outstanding Order Release program is run, the system caters for Variety Titles and explodes them into EVEN distribution of the components. If one component is unavailable, another component is substituted and components are not backordered. Once a Variety Title has been exploded, it is treated as normal order lines. However it does not substitute component Titles with substitute Titles. Non-stocked Titles cannot be part of a Variety.
Pack system ID must be V for Variety for when entering a variety in Title masterfile.
