Warehouse Adjustments

Stock Adjustment in Non RF Environment

Adjustments are used to correct physical stock quantities, up or down. Adjustments, positive or negative, can be made to the bin stock for any item, located at any warehouse. Each transaction or adjustment is given an adjustment type. This code is useful for identifying adjustments, such as, damaged goods, complimentary goods or other. To further identify this cost adjustment a process number is assigned to the transaction.

Following are features of stock adjustment.

  • Search facility over the ISBN and Barcode from Item Master file, and the TUN (Trade Unit Number) from Warehouse supplier file.
  • If a Discrepancy is to be cleared, use the Discrepancy Maintenance Menu option. But if a discrepancy results in a stock write off needing to be processed, this Stock Adjustment program can be used.
  • Positive stock adjustments validate items only. There are no checks made on the quantity and an adjustment can be processed with or without costs.
  • Negative stock adjustments validate both item and quantity. The number of ISBNs to be written down cannot exceed the current stock in the bin for the particular warehouse. The user is warned and unable to proceed until rectified.
  • Movements are allowed out of a location even if it exceeds the number of different units specified on the dimension definition maintenance.
  • Any units that have been reserved for unmade systems are not to be included as part of the available inventory that can be written-off in stock adjustment.
  • Maps logical warehouse to physical warehouse when writing transactions into the warehouse files.
  • Allow return stock to be available for immediate sale. If location is not passed in, update only inventory stock and do not update location stock.
  • For some movements, we wish to make the put away movement by container, but require the stock to then be stored as units, rather than remaining in the carton quantities in which they were picked up. The existing put away action code P will retain the carton quantity, but using code I would require individual put away confirmations per item. This new flag, single only, on the zone definitions file will be similar to a “P” however, will break the carton into singles at put away time.
  • Control file TMSDS/WH-SNEG is used for 3rd party warehouses where stock is not controlled by the system and adjustments for the warehouse can be created regardless of stock availability. The system will always allocate stock if the warehouse is defined in this control file (the stock may go negative). This is for non-location controlled warehouses and can be for loan consignment warehouses.

Stock Adjustments in RF Environment

In the RF warehouse all programs that move stock into locations check:

  • The Zone Masterfile to determine if a Title can be stored in multiple locations within that zone and if the zone accepts cartons only.
  • The Dimension Definitions to ensure weight, quantity, number of different units and maximum number of pallets are not exceeded.
  • TMSWH/SADJ-QTY is used to determine whether this process can write off only or to allow both a write up and a write down. Also the write on/off quantity limit and the default stock adjustment reason code.
  • Defaults the warehouse from TMSWH/WH-DFT if ‘Use default warehouse’ is set to Yes.
  • Only a positive quantity can be entered and the program will convert it to a negative for a write-off.
  • Serial number entry can be performed when using RF stock adjustments to receive stock.
  • Validation of the item extension in RF screen.
  • Facility to produce stock adjustment labels for RF entries. The label conforms to a Zebra label format.
  • The user ID date and time stamp is updated into the Warehouse Movements file (WHTRF00P) for every transaction performed.
  • Returned stock can be available for immediate sale. If the location is not passed in, only inventory stock is updated and not location stock.
