A Subscription List is created for each of the Titles or ISBNs customers can subscribe to. Each format or medium (CD, On-line, Paper) in which the title can be distributed is given a separate Subscription List. If publications in the paper format can be supplied as either loose parts only, bound volumes only, or a combination of bound volumes and loose parts, each one of these options are identified by a Subscription List.
For each Subscription List, indicate the subscribers who are registered to receive material associated with a subscription title. This is done via the Orders option within the Subscription List maintenance program. Subscription Lists may be grouped together by title for reporting purposes.
The Term of each subscription and the Charge Method may vary per Subscription List. Two Subscription Lists for one Title can be created to cater for two different Charge Methods.
Control Files or parameters need to be setup prior to creating Sub Lists and Orders. Some of the setup requirements come from other modules and have probably been established prior to working with the Subscription module. For example as Customers are shared by Sales and Debtors, some of the codes required in Subscriptions have been created when dealing with these modules. Similarly for Sales Order Entry, the sales order system is used for the delivery of subscription material and invoicing renewal charges therefore some of the subscription information is setup in the Sales module.
