Tote picking

Tote picking will allow multiple small orders to be batched picked into a tote container as the tote is conveyed through the forward pick area. Tote picking is only applicable for cubed orders. It can be used for multiple small shipper cartons and can be done either for whole picking slip or for some of the cartons of the picking slips. Various programs use Batch Pick Tote and Tote Container.

Tote picking defaults are defined in TMSWH/TOTE-DFT. TMSWH/PCK-RPCK contains WHO485 and prefix for tote container.

The RF picking program is used to picked consolidate orders into tote container. Once the tote has been fully picked, the tote status is changed to ‘M’ and it is routed to the de-consolidation bench. Tote container can not be closed by selecting ‘full container’ option.

To de-consolidate the tote scan check/repack by container program calls tote de-consolidation to transfer stock from tote container to packing bench and release IPO’s that had been dependent on tote picking.

Once the tote container has been fully de-consolidated, the permanent license plate number from the tote is de-assigned and the tote status is changed to ‘P’.

When scanning a tote a QA, the details need to be recorded against the dispatch container rather than the tote container so that it is possible to gather statistics on tote for the customer/order level.

This update will allow matching the individual scanned item/quantity to the pick slips and therefore identify which pick slip had any under/over attributed to it.

One step in the process to QA for over-picked and incorrectly picked items for normal cartons. The return to stock label will be printed at the end of the process instead of per quantity per item each time. Any over-pick, under pick and incorrectly picked items will be recorded in a new scan check audit file. Any over-pick, under-pick items will be added to the current cyclic count entries. Should no cycle currently be active, a new cycle count will be created automatically.

For some movements, we wish to make putaway movement by container, but require the stock to be then being stored as units, rather than remaining in the carton quantities in which they were picked up. The existing putaway action code will retain the carton quantity, but using code will require individual putaway confirmations per item. New flag ‘Single only’ which is added to zone definition file will be similar to a ‘P’ however will break the cartons into singles at putaway time.
