Work with Rights allows you to view and maintain the sub-rights linked to the works in the contract.
- In the menu, expand Publishing Modules > Rights & Permission > Management and double-click Work with Royalty Contracts. RYW010 Work with Royalty Contracts selection panel appears.
- Select the contract you want to work with option Rights. RYM190 Works Subrights panel appears, listing all subrights in the system. Subrights are marked ‘+‘ and the exploited subrights are unmarked and directly below the related subright. This panel only displays the primary contract for a subright; if there are multiple payment contracts linked to a subright then the primary contract will be highlighted. With multiple payment contracts, subrights revenue can be paid through to multiple contracts at different percentages. You can also access this from Rights & Permission > Maintenance menu.

Create a subright for a work
- Select the work and right click option Create. RYM190 Works Subrights panel appears in Add mode.
Field | Description |
Work ID | The Work that the subright is being created for. |
Rights ID | Identifier for the subright being created, this is automatically generated by the system. |
Type |
Type identifies the type of subright being created for the selected work; select from TMSRY/RTS-TYP. |
Language ID | The language in which the subright can be exploited. |
Territory | Territory in which the subright can be exploited. |
Exclusive License |
The publisher can have exclusive or non-exclusive subsidiary rights depending on the agreement between the author and the publisher. |
Remaining pay thru % | The pay through percentages for all the linked contracts for a subright must not exceed 100%. This field will always default to the percentage remaining to be allocated. For example, if there is already 2 contracts linked to a subright, each with 20% royalty pay through then the remaining pay thru will default to 60% when you are creating/linking the 3rd contract to the same subright. |
Contract no | This field is only maintainable if the rights is accessed via contracts, i.e. the contract attached to a right. Subrights does not have to be linked to a payment contract unless there is a need to paythru to royalty payment contract. Collection contract can then exploit the subrights, meaning that we can charge the customer, but there is no need to paythru to royalty payment contract. |
Royalty pay thru % | This is the rate that must be paid to the author/payee when the subright is exploited. The remaining amount is withheld. For example, if you enter 95% as the pay through value, the remaining 5% will be withheld and 95% of the amount will be paid to the author for any sales transactions that match this clause. |
Approval required | Can be used to flag if approval is to be required from the author. |
Start date | The date from when the subright can be exploited. This is optional . |
Exp reversion date | The date when the subrights is expected to be reverted back to the primary rights owner (publisher). |
Actual reversion date | The date when the subrights actually gets reverted back to the primary rights owner (publisher). |
Status | The subright can have the following status.
Pay through processing will only apply to subrights with status A. |
- Enter the above information and click OK to save the subright.
Note | Subright can be created automatically on item creation using the rights template defined in control file TMSRY/RTS-TMP if the item hierarchy matches. Work must exist before the subright can be automatically created. |
