Document Printing

The Document Print Control Program has been designed in conjunction with the Document Print Control Output Program, to provide greater flexibility in directing pre-printed stationery. Document print control rules are set by output types which are system defined in TMSDS/PRT-OUTT. When setting up the rules it is possible to use specific combinations of Document Type/ Sub Type, Picking Methods etc. Rules are made more flexible by allowing field definition by inclusion, exclusion of multiple values or range of values. The list of fields definitions are specific to the output type selected. Parameter definitions are set up by document type, which define the document printing rules. These rules are used by the Batch Document Print Program when a print run for a specific document type is generated.

Document print control rules can be added, maintained or deleted. However, change mode only allows maintenance of the printer components of the definition. If changes are required to all components of the definition, it is recommended that a new definition be set up and the old record deleted.

Multiple document control rules can be set up, the number of rules and the specifications of each rule will be influenced by the Company requirements.

Rules can be set up to generate a file with the invoice information so a third party can use this file to print the invoice in which ever format they choose. Messages can be incorporated into this generated file as well.

The system determines which calling parameter definition is applicable to a specific document by the sequence number assigned to each rule. TMSDS/PRT-OUTT includes Doc Print Control Group field which is used to limit or restrict the rules select fields to be used by a group. A group code of ‘WH’ would mean to include fields related to warehouses and exclude fields.

Dispatch documents can be printed for consolidated invoicing where the pick slip number is used as the dispatch document number. Output type ‘DSP’ in document control is setup for the dispatch document. Dispatch document can be printed at pick confirmation if a customer requires consolidated invoice at end of month instead of the standard invoice per delivery.

Item bar code is printed automatically whenever a second hand book is purchased in Point of Sale. Output type ‘IBC’ in document print control is for the bar code label.

Till Slips can be printed by picking slip number for in-store Point of Sale orders. New output type ‘TIL’ is created in Document Print Control for this.
