Works management allows you to maintain works database. Once a work is created, items can be added to it and the work can be linked to a royalty contract for royalty processing and subrights exploitation as required.
- In the menu, expand Publishing Modules > Rights & Permission > Maintenance and double-click Works Management. Note: This menu option can also be reached from Base Modules > Distribution > Masterfiles > Database Management > Database Management > Item Masterfiles > Item Masterfiles > IM Work with Works. DSW020 Work with Works panel appears, listing all active works in the system.
Option | Description |
Delete | This will allow you to delete a work that is not linked to a title. |
Rights | This will allows you to view the primary rights granted or the sub-rights linked to the works. Toggle function Grant/Subright to view this. |
Royalty item | Access DSW025 Works with Works Allocation to view all the items the work is linked to, and to add additional items to the work. |
- Click Add to create a new work.
- Enter the following information for the new work.
Field | Description |
Work ID | You can enter a Work ID (maximum 20 alphanumeric characters) or leave it blank to automatically generate the ID from control number file DS-ISTC. |
Description | Description of the new work; mandatory. |
Works type | Select the Works type as Main work or Sub work (Subrights work). |
Content type | Describes the actual work content; select from control file TMSDS/TM-CTYP setup. |
Language ID | Language of the works item; select from control file ********/LNG setup. |
Reference | Any other relevant reference for the work can be entered. |
URL domain/URL parameter | URL domain & parameter can be entered to identify the location of the work; to allow upload and download of any digital content of the work. |

Select from the following setup in control file TMSDS/TM-STS.

- Click OK to save the work. The work can now be linked to an item/s as required.
Note |
Work can be automatically created when an item is created under the following conditions.
The Works ID for the automatically created work will be the title (ISBN) with a ‘W’ prefix and it will have 100% allocation against the new item. |
