Multiple prices may be held for each Title and price level by the use of effective dates. This capability allows you to maintain price changes on the system well prior to them becoming effective and without the need to interrupt normal operations.
In order to satisfy electronic product pricing requirements, this program allows 10 price breaks per Title. This allows absolute price banding, where the quantity determines the absolute price to charge. Prices can be recorded as positive or as negative values. A negative price would be used for Rebate purposes.
The Price File can be accessed in two ways:
- Via the Title Masterfile on the Database Management Module when adding and maintaining Titles.
- Via the Price File on the Database Management Module.
TMSDS/PR-AUTH can register authorized user for price maintenance. If this control file does not exist or there is no entry, then all users are allowed price maintenance. If there are entries in the control file, but the user is not registered in it, then all prices will be locked except expiry date in the last entry is allowed to be changed. But the user can still create a new price.
If the user is registered in the control file, then a new toggle function Lock Price/Unlock Price is displayed to allow lock/unlock the prices for maintenance.

Effect | This is the date the discount takes effect. This allows for multiple discounts to be entered in advance but only take effect when the due date is reached. Multiple dates allow for pre-entry of pricing structures. This caters for entering a new price prior to the effective date. When the effective date is reached, the order entry programs pick up the new price. A price history can be maintained in this way. |
Expiry | This date is part of the Price Break definition and indicates to the system when a particular price expires. When an expiry date is reached, the system looks for the next effective date. An expiry date can be entered when a new price is to take effect. The Effective date of the new price must be entered. |
Form | The price formula is based on the quantity breaks within the Price File Maintenance screen which consists of 10 price breaks.
Formula 1 = Unit price. This is a set price for bulk titles purchased. If more titles are required the price will increase. For example: We will charge a customer $50000 for 10 titles (ABC). If an additional title is required then they are charged $2000 per title ABC. Formula 2 = Absolute. This is a set price, the highest price you pay for titles ABC. For example: For 10 ABC titles you pay $50000 and if you require any additional you pay $2000 per title, but if you purchase 50 ABC titles for $60000 that is the most you pay. This is the absolute price. |
